To ba a bisexual do you have to of known all your life?

My friend recently told her mother that she was Bi. Her mother told her that if she was Bi then she wouldve known her whole life, even though my friend has strong feelings for this other girl at my school. She's the first girl my friend has ever had physical/emotional feelings for. (they're dating)
